Question

There are two charges +1uc and +5uc. what is the ratio of the force acting on them?

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given

q₁=+1μC

q₂=+5μC

Let r is distance between them.

F21 is force experienced on charge q₂ by q₁.

F12 is force experienced on charge q₁ by q₂.

Step 2: Formula used

F=1r2 kq₁*q₂

Step 3: Finding the ratio of force between charges

F12 =1r2 kq₁*q₂

F21 =1r2 kq₁*q₂

The magnitude of both the force is the same.

F12 =F21 =1r2 kq₁*q₂

Hence, F12F21=11=1 .
