Silk is an animal fiber obtained from the cocoon of the silkworm.
Cocoon is the silky coating made by the silkworm (or caterpillar) of the silk moth. Silkworms create cocoons to protect their pupa development.
The pupa is a stage in the silk moth's life cycle when the caterpillar (or silkworm) is enclosed in a rigid cocoon made of silk fibres.
