Given, A=(1,2,3),B=(4,5,7),C=(4,3,6),D=(2,k,2)
For AB to be parallel to CD, their direction cosines should be equal.
Therefore, Dcs of AB will be
(334,334,434)
D.C.s of CD will be
(6100+(k3)2,k3100+(k3)2,8100+(k3)2)
Now 6100+(k3)2=334
k3100+(k3)2=334
8100+(k3)2=434
Solving any of the above can give us the value of k:
6100+(k3)2=334
4(34)=100+(k3)2
136=100+(k3)2
36=(k3)2
