A 1.8 km long and 8 m wide road is to be laid with road metal of 15 cm thickness. How many cubic metres of road metal will be required for the purpose?

Open in App
Solution

Length of the road = 1.8 km = 1800 m (1 km = 1000 m)
Breadth of the road = 8 m
Thickness of the road = 15 cm = 0.15 m 1 cm=1100m
Volume of the road metal required = length of road × breadth of road × thickness of road metal
= 1800 × 8 × 0.15 m3
= 2160 m3
∴ Volume of the road metal required is 2160 m3 .
