Solution

Given : ΔE=12.5eV
Considering the electron to jump from n = 1 to n = n level.
ΔE=EnE1
12.5=13.6n2(13.612)12.5=13.6(11n2)112.513.6=1n21.113.6=1n213.61.1=n212.36=n2n=3.5n=3rd

For n = 3 to n = 1,
1λ=R(1121n2)1λ=R(112132)1λ=1.097×107(119)1λ=1.097×107×89λ=102.55 nm
For n = 2 to n = 1,
1λ=1.097×107(112122)1λ=1.097×107(34)λ=121.54 nm
For n = 3 to n = 2,
1λ=1.097×107(122132)1λ=1.097×107(1419)1λ=1.097×107×536λ=656.33nm
Hence , λ=102.5nm and 121.5 nm Lyman series and λ=656.33 nm Balmer series
