Permissible shear stress,
τper=90MPa

Permissible bearing stress,
σbr=270MPa

Nominal diameter of rivet,
d = 16 mm

Gross diameter
d' = d + 1.5
= 17.5 mm

Rivet is in double shear
Rivet value = Min {strength of rivet in shearing, strength of rivet in bearing}

=Min{2×πd24×τper,(d×t)σbr}

=Min{2×π×17.524×90N,17.5×12×270N}

= Min {43.29 kN,.56.7 kN}
= 43.29 kN
