A 2.16 g of a substance occupies 1.5 cm3. Its density to appropriate significant figure is:

Open in App
Solution

Step 1 : Given data

Mass of substance = 2.16g

Volume = 1.5cm3

Step 2 : Formula used

Density = massvolume

Step 2: Evaluating density

Putting values in above formula , density = 2.161.5

=1.44g/cm3

Since There are3significant figures in measured mass

Whereas there are only 2significant figures in measured volume.

Hence density should be expressed to only 2 significant figures i.e 1.4g/cm3
