Solution

The correct option is B $5$ ms $^{- 1}$ in the same direction
Using momentum conservation for inelastic collision,

$m_{1} u_{1} + m_{2} u_{2} = V (m_{1} + m_{2})$

$m_{1} = m_{2} = 2$ kg $, u_{1} = 10$ ms $^{- 1}, u_{2} = 0$ ms $^{- 1}, V = ?$

$\Rightarrow 2 \times 10 + 2 \times 0 = 4 V$

$\Rightarrow V = \frac{20}{4} = 5$ ms $^{- 1}$ .
