We know that velocity of centre of mass is given as
$_{c m} = \frac{m_{1}_{1} + m_{2}_{2}}{m_{1} + m_{2}} \Rightarrow \frac{2 \times 3^i + 3 \times 2^i}{5} = \frac{12}{5}^i$
$_{c m} == 2.4^i {m s}^{- 1}$
Hence the velocity of centre of mass at the instant will be $2.4 {m s}^{- 1}$ along x-axis
