A 2 x 2 matrix M has eigen values 2 & 3 with eigen vectors [21]&[12] respectively. The sum of all elements of Matrix M is _______.

The correct option is A 5
Let matrix M=[pqrs]

Now for eigen value λ1 = 2 & eigen vector X1=[21]

MX1=λ1X1

[pqrs][21]=2[21]

[2p+q2r+s]=[24] ..... (1)

Also for eigen value λ2 with eigen vector X2

MX2=λ2X2

[pqrs][12]=3[12]

[P+2qr+2s]=[36] ...(2)

From (1) & (2) we have,

2p + q = 4; 2r + s = 2
p + 2q = 3 ; r + 2s = 6
3p + 3q =7
& 3r + 3s = 8
3(p+q+r+s)=15
p + q + r + s = 5
