The correct option is C 4.5 m/s
Since, momentum of the system is conserved here, we have
Pinitial=Pfinal .....(i)
Given, mass of cannon mc=200 kg
mass of cannon ball mb=10 kg
speed of cannon ball vb=90 m/s
Let recoil velocity of cannon be vc
Now, from eq (i) we have
0=mcvc+mbvb vc=mbvbmc vc=10×90200=4.5 m/s
Thus, recoil speed of the cannon is 4.5 m/s.
