Question

A 200m long train crosses a 1400mlong bridge with a uniform speed of 72km/h . Calculate the time taken by the train to cross the bridge?

Open in App
Solution

Step 1. Given:

Length of the train [L]=200m

Length of the bridge [l]=1400m

Total distance covered by the train[s] =L+l=1400+200=1600m

Speed of train [v]=72km/h

v=72km/hv=72×1000/60×60v=20m/s

Formula Used: Speed[v]=distance/time

Step2 :Final solution:

To find the time.

Speed[v]=distance[s]time[t]t=sv=160020=80seconds

Hence the total time taken by the train to cross the bridge is 80seconds.
