A 3ϕ, 50 Hz, star connected alternator with 2 layer winding is running at 1000 rpm. It has 12 turns/coil, 4 slots/poles/phase and a coil pitch of 8 slots. The winding factor at stator will be_________ (Answer upto 3 decimal places)

The correct option is A 0.826
Number of poles, P=120×fN=120×501000=6

Total number of slots =4×6×3=72

Conductor per phase, Nph=72×123=283

Phase spread =No.of slots per pole per phase × Angular slot pitch ..(i)

Also for 3ϕ system, phase spread=1803=60 ..(ii)

Using equation (i) and (ii)

60=4×γ

γ=15

kd=sin4×1524sin152=sin304sin7.5=0.9576

Pole pitch = 12 slots

Coil pitch = 8 slots =8×15=120=(18060)

α =60

Coil factor, kc=cosα2=0.866

Winding factor =kc×kd=0.866×0.9576

=0.829
