A 4 V battery is connected to 4 Ω resistor through a circuit and a current is flowing through it. An ideal p-n junction diode is introduced in series to the circuit such that n-side is at a higher potential. What is the new current through the circuit?
Since n-side is at a higher potential, the diode is reverse biased. Under reverse bias, a perfect diode acts as a perfect insulator i.e. its resistance will be infinite. Since it is connected in series with the circuit, there will be no current through the circuit.
