Question

A 500-litre tank full of oil is being drained at the constant rate of 20 litres per minute.
(a) Write a linear function V for the number of litres in the tank after t minutes (assuming that the drainage started at t=0)
(b) Find the V and the t intercepts and intepret them

Solution

Given ,Total capacity of tank=500l
Drained at 20 litres per minute.
Total no. of liters drained in t minutes =20t
So, function of V as in terms of t minutes=50020t
When time is 11 min 45 seconds i.e, =(11+4560) minutes.
No. of litres left=500(20)(660+4560)=265 liters.
