What kind of defect in vision is she suffering from?

Myopia or nearsightedness. It is the most common refractive error of the eye. Myopia occurs when the eyeball is too long, relative to the focusing power of the cornea and lens of the eye.
In this, the light rays focus before the retina and hence the image formed is ahead of the retina.
