Solution

The correct option is C 60 km
Two stations A and B are 90 km apart.
Let the two trains meet at a point C after x hrs.
The speed of the train which starts from A is 20 km/h.
Therefore, distance travelled by train starting from station A during x hour = 20x km.
Similarly, speed of the other train which starts from B is 10 km/h.
Therefore, the distance travelled by train starting from B during x hour = 10x km.

Total distance between points A and B is given to be 90 km.
∴ 20x + 10x = 90
⇒ 30x = 90
⇒ x = 3
Thus, the required distance AC = 20x = 20 × 3 = 60 km
Hence, the correct answer is option (3).
