$A$ and $B$ started a business investing amounts in the ratio $2 : 3$ . Had $A$ invested an additional amount of Rs. $10000,$ their ratio of investment would have been $3 : 2$ . What was the amount invested by $A$ ?

Initial ratio of investments by $A$ and $B = 2 : 3$
Let their respective investments be $2 x$ and $3 x .$
According to the question,
$\frac{(2 x + 10000)}{3 x} = \frac{3}{2}$
$\Rightarrow 4 x + 20000 = 9 x$
$\Rightarrow 5 x = 20000$
$\Rightarrow x = 4000$

Original investment by $A = 2 \times 4000 =$ Rs. $8000$
