Question

A B and C are three substances.A does not conduct electricity in the solid or liquid state.B conducts electricity both in the fused and solution C conduct electricity in aqueous solution but not in liquid state.which of the following statements is false regarding A B and C

A) A has polar covalent linkage

B) a has nonpolar covalent linkage

C) B is ionic in nature

D) C has polar covalent linkage

Solution

A polar covalent molecule may conduct electricity in liquid state due to formation of ions. For example HCl will dissociate a little in liquid state as under
HCl->H+ + Cl-
So as A does not conduct electricity in solid as well as liquid state it should be pure covalent So option A is wrong
