Given, P(A)=0.7
But P(A)=1P(A)=10.7=0.3
similarly P(B)=a
P(B)=1a
P(AB)=P(A).P(B) (since A,B are independent events)
P(AB)=P(A)+P(B)P(AB)
0.8=0.3+1a(0.3(1a))
0.8=0.3+1a0.3+0.3a\Rightarrow 0.2=0.7a\Rightarrow a=2/7$
