Solution

The correct option is C (,4)
If αβ are roots of x2+ac+b=0α+β=a,αβ=b ........ (1)
If α+k,β+k are roots of x2+bx+a=0α+β+2k=b
K=ab2......... (2)
from (1)
Also , (α+k)(β+k)=a
αβ+k(α+β)+k2=a
b+ab2(a)+(ab)24=a
a=b or ab4+(a)2=1
a=b or a+b+4=0
ab as k0 (given) a+b=4a2+b2+2ab=16 ........ (3)
Also, 4k2=(ab)2=a2+b22ab ..... (4)
(3)(4),4ab=164k2
ab=4k2 (=λ given)
Now, (4k2)4 but ab0
ab<4
Option A is correct
