The correct option is C 590 and 590
As this DNA strand contains 2988 base pairs. So, the total number of nucleotides from strand 1 must be equal to 2988.
So, 348+X+640+1400 = 2988
After solving we get X = 590
Also, the number of cytosine from one strand is equal to guanine from another strand, hence Y = 590.
So, the correct option is '590 and 590'.
