Step 1:To find number of red balls:

Number of blue balls = 5

Let the number of red balls be x

Total number of balls = 5+x

The probability of drawing two blue balls=514

514=5C25+xC2---------- (1)

Step 2: Finding 5C2and5+xC2:

We know that, nCr=n!r!(n-r)!

5C2=5!2!3!=5×4×3!2×3!=5×42=10

5+xC2=(5+x)!2!(3+x)!=(5+x)(4+x)(3+x)!2(3+x)!=(5+x)(4+x)2

Substitute the values in equation (1)

514=10×2(5+x)(4+x)56=(5+x)(4+x)56=x2+9x+200=x2+9x-360=x2+12x-3x-360=x(x+12)-3(x+12)0=(x+12)(x-3)

On solving this quadratic equation we get,

x=-12orx=3

x cannot be negative . So, x=3.

Hence, option (A) is the correct answer.
