Solution

Step 1: Represent the unknown quantities by two variables

Let the white ball be A and the black ball be B

Step 2: Two equations using the assumed variables according to the question

12A=13B..............(1)2(A+B)=3B+4......(2)2A+2B-3B=4.........(3)

Step 3: Using elimination method

12A-13B=0..........(1)2A-B=4...............(4)

Multiplying equation (1) by 4

we get

(1)x42A-43B=0........(5)2A=B=4........(4)

Subtracting equations (5)-(4)

0-43B-B=-4-43B+B=-4-4B+3B3=-4-B=-4×3-B=-12B=12

Substitute the value of B=12 in equation(4) by substitution method

we get

2A-12=42A=4+12=16A=162=8

Hence, Number of white balls (A)=8

Number of Black Balls (B)=12
