A bag of rice weights $20kg$ more than one of sugar. If $50kg$ of sugar is added to the second bag, its weight becomes twice that of the bag of rice. Find the weight of the bag of rice.

Let $x$ and $y$ be the weight of bag of rice and sugar respectively.

According to the question-

$x=y+20.....\left(1\right)$

Also,

$y+50=2x$

$\Rightarrow y+50=2(y+20)\left(\text{From}\left(1\right)\right)$

$\Rightarrow y+50=2y+40$

$\Rightarrow y=10kg$

Substituting the value of $y$ in equation $\left(1\right)$, we have

$4x=10+20=30kg$

Hence the weight of bag of sugar and rice are $10kg$ and $30kg$ respectively.
