As given the ball is bouncing on the ground and from graph, we can see that displacement $x$ is positive. Ball is dropped from a height and due to gravity pull its velocity increases in downward direction and it will be negative.




When ball rebounds in upward direction its velocity decreases but is positive. Since acceleration is constant, $v-t$ curve will be a straight line.
