Question

A ball is dropped from a height of 10m. If the
of the ball reduces by 40% after striking the ground the ball will rebound to

Open in App
Solution

Potential energy at height of 10m=mgh=(100m)J

Now at striking the ground it loses 40% of its energy ie=(40/100) (100m)

=(40m)J

Now potenial energy left in ball=(100m-40m=) J=(60m)J

mgh=60m

h=(60m)/10m

h=6 metres

Ball will bounce back to the height of 6m
