Question

A ball is projected from a certain point on the ground at an angle with the horizontal surface. The horizontal and vertical displacement x and y(in metres) vary with time (in seconds) as
x=103t
y=10t5t2

Solution

The correct option is A

20 ms1 at an angle of 30 with the horizontal

We know that the position coordinates x and y of a projectile are given by
x=(v0 cos θ)t........(1)and y=(v0 sin θ)t12gt2........(2)
Comparing the given equations,v0 cos θ=103 ms1 and v0 sin θ=10 ms1
Squaring and adding we get, v20=102+102×3=400
v0=20 ms1
Also, tan θ=13
θ=30.
Hence, the correct choice is (a).
