Given,
Mass of the ball, m=5 kg
Initial velocity of ball, u=40 m/s
We know that kinetic energy, K=12mv2
Hence, initial kinetic energy, K=12×5×402
K=4000 J
Now, the ball will have the maximum potential energy when the whole kinetic energy is converted to the potential energy.
Therefore, maximum potential energy is 4000 J.
