A bar magnet consists of two poles, North and South pole. Ideally, the magnetic strength of two poles should be the same. So, the amount of iron filings attached to South and North pole will be almost same. Although the amount of iron filings clinging to the whole body other than the poles will not be same. This is because magnetic strength of a magnet reduces from poles towards centre of the magnet.
