If the correct of barometer at 0oC is 70 cm Then the at 40oC the readnig will show
L=70(1+α1AT) [α1 of brass,T=40k]
Similarly mercury expands to 70 cm from initial length Lo
L=lo(1+α2AT) (α2:for mercury)

lo=70(1+α2AT(1+α2AT)=70(1+1.8×105×40(1+1.8×104×40)
