A beam 4 m long, 50 cm wide and 20 cm deep is made of wood which weighs 25 kg per m³. Find the weight of the beam.

Given:
Length of the beam, l = 4 m
Breadth of the beam, b = 50 cm = 0.5 m
Depth of the beam, h = 20 cm = 0.2 m
We know:
Volume of the beam = lbh
= 4 × 0.5 × 0.2
= 0.4 m³
Weight of 1 m³ beam = 25 kg
∴ Weight of 0.4 m³ beam = 0.4 × 25 kg = 10 kg
