Step 1: Given data

Intensity of radiation, I=6.4×10-5W/cm2

Wavelength, λ=310nm

Work function of given metal, φ=2eV

Surface area, A=1cm2

Step 2: Calculating the value of x

We know that energy of incident radiation is given by:

E=hcλ

E=1240310 [hc=1240 given in question]

E=4ev>2ev[work function] [So photoelectric effect will take place]

E=4×1.6×10-19JE=6.4×10-19J

Now, applying the formula of power, P

P=nE=IAn=IAE [Here, number of photons incident per second is n.]

Now using the above formula we get,

n=6.4×10-56.4×10-19n=1014persecond

Since one out of thousand photons is successful in ejecting an electron, therefore the number of electrons ejected in one second is 1014103=1011 [Where, 103 is number of photons needed to emit an electron

1011=10x

Therefore, comparing the values we get, x=11
