Solution

Step 1: Given data:

Price of bicycle inclusive GST=Rs.7,280

List price of bicycle=Rs.6,500

Step 2: Calculate rate of GST:

GST=PriceofbicycleinclusiveGST-ListpriceofbicycleGST=7,280-6,500GST=Rs.780

Calculate the rate of GST.

Rate=GSTListprice×100Rate=7806,500×100Rate=12%

Step 3: Calculate the price paid by the customer:

Calculate the new rate of GST.

NewrateofGST=12+6NewrateofGST=18%

New price paid by the customer is computed as,

Newprice=6,500+18%of6,500Newprice=6,500+6,500×18100Newprice=6,500+1,170Newprice=Rs.7,670

Hence, the rate of GST is 12% and the customer has to pay Rs.7,670 for the bicycle if the GST increases by 6%.
