Given:
Velocity ratio, VR=4
Effort, E=240 kgf
Efficiency, η=80%
We know that, η=MAVR×100
On substitution, 0.8=MA4 MA=4×0.8=3.2
And, MA=3.2=LoadEffort=L240
L=240×3.2=768 kgf
For a block and tackle system, VR=n=4
So, number of pulleys in the system are 4.
