A block of mass 10 kg is placed on rough horizontal surface whose coefficient of friction is 0.5. If a horizontal force of 100N is applied on it, then what will be acceleration of block?

Given

Mass (M) = 10kg

Co-efficient of friction (K)=0.5

Horizontal force = 100 N

g=10ms2

Solution

Normal reaction =M×g=10×10

Normal reaction =100N

Friction force (F)=K×0.5=0.5×100=50N

F=Ma

50=10×a

a=5ms2.
