Question

A block of mass 2kg is released from the top of a rough incline of height 2m. If the velocity of the block on the reaching the bottom is 4m/s. Then find the magnitude of work done in juoles by the frictional force on the block. G=10m/s2.

Using conservation of energy,
mgh = 1/2 mv^2 + W(work done to overcome friction)
2×10×2 = 1/2 × 2 × 16 + W
40 = 16 + W
W = 40 - 16 = 24 J
