Question

A block of weight 100 N is lying on a rough horizontal surface .it's coefficient of friction is 13 the least possible force that can move the block is?

Open in App
Solution

Given,

Weight of the block = 100 N

Coefficient of the friction = 13

If the weight of the block is 100 N then the force of reaction will also be 100 N

We know,

The frictional force is given as

f=μN

Putting all the values

f=13×100=1003 N

So minimum force which is required to move the block should be equal to the limiting friction.

So minimum force required = 1003 N
