A boat goes $48 k m$ downstream in $20 h$ . It takes $4 h$ more to cover the same distance against the stream. What is the speed of the boat in still water ?

Solution

The correct option is A $2.2 k m / h$
Speed downstream $= \frac{48}{20} = 2.4$ km/hr
Speed upstream $= \frac{48}{24} = 2$ km/hr
Therefore, Speed of boat in still water.
$= \frac{1}{2} (2.4 + 2) = \frac{4.4}{2}$
$= 2.2$ km/hr.
