Solution

This property is called inertia where an object opposes any change in its sate of rest or of uniform motion.

For eg:When a bus starts suddenly from rest, the passengers experience a jerk backwards as the lower part of their body comes in motion due to direct contact with the seat, but the upper part tends to remain at rest due to inertia of rest and hence, we move backwards.
