Let the total distance be 2x.
For first half distance :
Speed is 20 m/s
Thus time taken t1=x20
For second half distance :
Speed is 30 m/s
Thus time taken t2=x30
Average velocity Vavg=2xt1+t2
Vavg=2xx20+x30=2×20×3020+30=24 m/s
