Let the velocity of the system after the collision be v1 and tension in the string be T1
Apply conservation of momentum before and after the collision :
mv+0=(2m)v1

Using circular motion equation, (2m)v21l=T12mg

Tension in the string initially T=mg
Increase in tension ΔT=T1T
