Solution

The correct option is D 2.5 m

From FBD of block,

N=mgcos37

f=μN=μmgcos37

From Newton's second law,

mgsin37f=ma

mgsin370.3xmgcos37=ma

The body will have maximum speed when net force on it is zero or ma=0

mgsin370.3x×mgcos37=0

x=mgsin370.3×mgcos37

x=(3/5)0.3×(4/5)=2.5 m

Hence, option (d) is correct.

Why this question ?Concept-A body have maximum velocityin a particular direction when net force on it iszero. If opposing force is increased more thenit will start decelerating and come to rest at a point and then start accelerating in thedirection of greater force.
