In displacement-time graph, the displacement of the body is taken along Y-axis and time along X-axis.

Average velocity:
Given,
Time taken, t=51=4 s
Displacement covered in time interval 1 s to 5 s.
S = final position - initial position =18m6m=12m
We know,
Average velocity = Total displacement Total time =St=124 ms1v=3 ms1
Hence, average velocity of the body is 3 ms1.
