Given
Initial velocity =u
Acceleration, a=g (direction of g is opposite to that of u)
Clearly, the body would remain in the air until the time when it returns to the ground.
Therefore, displacement, s=0
From the equation of motion,
s=ut+12at2
Putting the values, we get:
0=ut12gt2
t(gt2u)=0

t=0 or t=2ug

Since t=0 represents the initial state of the body, therefore t=2ug.
