The distance traveled by the body is given as s=ut+12at2.
In this case,
For a distance s= 3 m and time t=1 second, the equation is given as
3=u×1+12×a×12
3=u+0.5a..........(i)

For a distance s= 8 m and time t=2 seconds, the equation is given as
8=u×2+12×a×22
8=2u+2a...........(ii)

Solving equations (i) and (ii), we get u=2 m/s and a=2 m/s2.
