Solution

The correct option is B $2 m s^{- 2}$
Given,
$s_{1} = 3 m, t_{1} = 1 s$
$s_{2} = 8 m, t_{2} = 2 s$

Let, initial velocity $= u$ and acceleration $= a$

$∴ s_{1} = u t_{1} + \frac{1}{2} a t_{1}^{2}$

$3 = u + \frac{1}{2} a$ ....(i)

$s_{2} = u t_{2} + \frac{1}{2} a t_{2}^{2}$

$8 = 2 u + 2 a$

$4 = u + a$ ...(ii)
Solving (i) and (ii), we get, $a = 2 m s^{- 2}$
