According to Newton’s second law, force is equal to rate of change of momentum.

F=mvmut
mvmu=F×t

which is given by the area under the Ft graph.


Area under the graph =12×(2×4)+(2×4)+12×((4+2.5)×0.5)+(2×2.5)

=18.625 kgm/s

Given u=5 m/s and m=2 kg
2v10=18.625
v=14.31 m/s
