Given,

m1=2 kg,u1=3 m/s

m2=1 kg,u2=4 m/s

Let the final velocity of both the masses be v.

From the conservation of linear momentum we have,

m1u1+m2u2=(m1+m2)v

(2×3)+(1×(4))=(2+1)v

v=23 m/s.
