Let OE and OY be along X and Y axis respectively,
then ux=3m/s,ax=0
and uy=0,ay=42=2m/s2
at t=4s, let Sx and Sy be the displacement along x-axis and y-axis respectively, then
Sx=ux=12axt2=3×4+12(0)(4)2=12m
and
Sy=uyt+12ayt2=0×4+12(2)(4)2=16m
so, the resultant displacement S is given as
S=Sx2+Sy2=20m
